Question:
How do I restart my pottermore account?

Hi,

I just got early access into pottermore. Obviously, I was very excited! But once I started getting the results of my personality quizzes (the wand one and the house sorting) I ran into some issues.

My wand part descriptions are nothing like my personality at all. And I just got sorted into hufflepuff, which is a problem. I am a gigantic ravenclaw, maybe a slytherin, perhaps even gryffindor is a stretch to put me in. But Hufflepuff is just the most ridiculous thing for me, it doesn't match up with me at all. And I think I know the problem.

Some of the questions rely on stereotypical symbolism- i.e questions like "black or white"? A person's color preference has nothing to do with their mental state. Instead, it relies on what their eyes find appealing. Therefore some of the questions are unfair. When J.K. asks, for example, black or white, she is referring to the symbolism behind these colors (white=pure, good; black=unknown, mystery). This is an inaccurate way of judging for many reasons, mostly because colors are percieved in many different ways by different individuals. For example, ancient brides would wear black dresses instead of white ones because black was a joyful color back then. IT ALWAYS CHANGES. So if I get the chance to start over on Pottermore, I will answer the wand and house questions based on their deciphered symbolic meanings, rather than their aesthetic appeal.

But sadly, I didn't do that too well the first time. Is there any way to refresh my account and start it over and erase all my progress so I can answer the questions correctly?

Thanks :)

You would have to delete your account, and wait until October to create a new one.

I feel the same...I feel my wand it pretty close with me, and I'm not too unhappy with my house, but still dissapointed. I'm a strong Gryffindor, and Slytherin and Ravenclaw second. I fel that the chess pieces through me too, when I answered I was thinking chess not colour, and black as defensive (white as offensive). So I chose black. A few other questions I knew would probably put me in Slytherin, even though I'm a solid Gryffindor. I was a bit sad afterward, and am a tad envious of the other Gryffindors, but I think I'll try out Slytherin. Every other house quiz says I'm Gryffindor, and I know where I'd be.

So, if you do restart, Good Luck for Ravenclaw!!!

P.S. My favourite House Quiz. http://www.thealmightyguru.com/Reviews/HarryPotter/Docs/Quiz-House.html

I like that it's not even personality, but actions and responses.

I got sorted into Ravenclaw, although I thought I was a Gryffindor. Well, I took some tests before and I read about the four houses and I realised that I'm a Ravenclaw/Gryffindor. I wanted Gryffindor so bad, I was shocked when they sorted me into Ravenclaw but then when I read the Welcome To Ravenclaw message I realised that maybe I belong in there.

Think about it, read about Hufflepuff, you'll get convinced. Cedric was a Hufflepuff, Tonks was a Hufflepuff, even J.K Rowling herself took a test once and it said that she's a Hufflepuff.

If you really want another house then you have to wait til October and make a new account. That's the only way.

You can't. You just create another one in October, which is pointless since you stayed up all night long to answer one of the questions during the Magical Quill contest.

Jo created the test itself. It has nothing to do with personalities. Well it does, but way deeper. Not all Slytherins are mean. Not all Ravenclaws are smart and witty. Not all HufflePuffs are nice and loyal, and not all Gryffindors are brave and courageous.

For Black or White-Jo is referring to chess (well i think). White pieces always move first. Ravenclaws and Slytherins like to see the strengths and weaknesses of their opponent. So if you were truly a Ravenclaw or Slytherin, you would click Black.

Long to explain all so i researched the questions: https://answersrip.com/question/index?qid=20110821143251AArTLdg

I haven't gotten my welcome e-mail yet, and i'm excited/worried at the same time. Most of my friends got in, and they took the test (most thinking they are all Ravenclaws), and all of them got in for Gryffindor, except for one who got in for Slytherin.

You can't retake the test (Jo said it herself), and you can't switch accounts with someone else. Just keep it or wait till October.

As for the wand, it's just based on height, eye color, hair color, what you fear the most, etc (so i heard). Jo created hundreds or thousands of wands.

Eh, I would keep it if i was you.

So, I read that you got a Hufflepuff account but wanted Ravenclaw. Well, I have the same problem but in reverse. Maybe we could work out an account trade, so each of us could get the house we feel we actually fit into? If you're interested please email me at patiencemiller@yahoo.com or YA message me.
