I have many friends who download films etc from sites like kickasstorrents is this illegal?? They say the chances of being caught are small, one of them had a nasty letter from their ISP but he was downloading 3/4 films a day, what do you reckon, is all that business over now, have they finally locked it down?

Of course it is illegal. It is theft. Lots of people doing it does't make it OK.

There is only a small chance of being caught, but there have been quite a lot of high profile cases where people have been taken to court and fined.

P2P file sharing is perfectly legal as long as your sharing free software other. But some programs that are shared have copyright laws on them which makes some of them illegal. If you do get caught your gonna get fined.

If you are downloading stuff that you would normally buy in a shop then yes it is illegal. It is stealing. You are taking something without paying for it. Your ISP keeps logs of all your activities and so if the owners of the works you are stealing want to prosecute you they can.

Wrong wrong wrong.

You are all wrong.

It is illegal to be sharing files for others to download.

It is perfectly legal to download what ever you like. As long as you are not sharing what you are downloading to others.

But since this is the way P2P file sharing works. It is illegal. Unless you do not seed to anybody and turn off and disable all uploads.

Hello,

Emule is by far the best p2p program. Get it here http://j.mp/1Ayn8rK if you don't have it

It's surely the leader program of its type
