I'm using 2WIRE network and I have 2 laptops. So 2 days ago I was on my laptop that was using the wireless connection (without the direct yellow cable attached) and suddenly the internet just gave out. I had that little "x" box on the bottom left and I went to click "Connect to a Network" and saw my 2WIRE option box there and clicked it and it tried to connect but then it says "Could not connect to 2WIRE598" and it said possible options were "low signal strength" which is ridiculous cause it showed 5 bars.

I Can still use the internet with the yellow cable attached from the 2wire box to my laptop directly but for some reason now the internet is 5x slower and almost impossible for gameplay. Would really like a good answer on this and choosing best answer right away after problem is fixed. thanks

I have a 2wire modem and have had to do extensive trouble shooting. Since even the "wired" delivery has slowed down, you may need to reboot the 2wire.

1. unplug the modem from the power supply and wait at least 20 seconds

2. plug the power supply back in.

3, wait until the 2wire "finds" itself and your system again

4. try to connect and see if there's improvement

If you still have the same problems, you need to call your provider to get a system reboot from their side. Ask tech support what else you can do (describing to them the stuff you did before you called them.)

When I first got this system in this location, I had terrible dsl for six months. Tried everything under the sun and finally the phone guy looked in the ground outside the house and found a nicked cable. That's what it had been all along.

This wont be the best answer but at least its better than nothing right? Try turning off you modem for a minute and turn it back on, then try connecting via WiFi. If this doesnt work i suggest you call your internet provider. Best of luck :)

evaluate here: a million. make specific that the router works by connecting your computer to it utilising an ethernet cable. 2. If the router does not artwork and you're utilising it at the back of a modem, turn the modem off, unplug the ethernet cable from the router to the modem, plug in an ethernet cable from the modem on your computer, and turn the modem back on. If the computer nevertheless won't connect with the internet linked directly to the modem, then your information superhighway is down. call your ISP. if your computer gets information superhighway linked directly to the modem, then your router gave out. 3. If the router works with the computer linked to it utilising an ethernet cable, then the on the spot configuration on your computer may be incorrect. before everything, be sure you probably did no longer by threat disable your on the spot adapter on your computer (it could happen). If there is a few variety of change on your computer to instruct on the spot on or off, confirm that is interior the "on" place. despite if it fairly is, double-verify your on the spot configuration on your computer to confirm each subject's suited. 4. if your on the spot settings are suited on your computer, log in on your router and double-verify the on the spot settings there. i've got seen routers production facility default on their very own earlier. if it is so, then you will ought to reconfigure your on the spot settings on the two your router and your computer. 5. If all else fails and your computer became getting information superhighway linked on your router utilising a cable, then your router has lost its capacity to furnish on the spot information superhighway and it will ought to get replaced. Such has occurred to me two times with Linksys routers earlier switching over to Belkin.
