I have found wordpress to be the best for most things. A self hosted wordpress site is by far the better option than .com version as the freedom it allows.



There are a number of plugins that I use for each site, these can all be found witin the plugoins area and then search for what it is you need.



EG All in one SEO, WP database backup, Google analyticator, are the 3 main ones that I use for every site. Depending on what the site is will then depend on other plugins to choose!!



With hosting I always use namecheap as i have found them to be great and also great support

I self hosted mine at SiteServing...and they sell software licenses. I was able to buy Fantastico auto installer which has been awesome. They have a couple different auto installers, but that one is pretty popular.



SiteServing has been awesome for wordpress support (and support in general)...they are the most stable company I've yet to host with (hosted with bluehost and hostgator before).
