How can I make hotmail from my windows live messenger open in google chrome or firefox?

Question

When I click my inbox, hotmail opens with internet explorer. I uninstalled IE, and made google chrome my default browser, but when I click my inbox now, nothing happens. What can I do?

I have Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, and Internet Explorer all hooked up. My husband goes to tuition for desktops and announced me to Opera. It's such a lot quicker than any of the others. For tuition, I need to use Internet Explorer to entry their portal. It's so stressful and it takes such a lot time to load something.
