it will not have a harmful effect on health unless you sleep next to the unit. (assuming its wireless)

all electrical units give off some form of electromagnetic flux or radiation an it's the power and frequency that are the main objects . TVs fridges etc all give off electrical fields but most are considered no harmful. ( or would be illegal to sell)

currently there are two recognised forms of harmful radiation ( 3 actually I forgot sources such as radar=microwaves)

1= high voltage cables eg overhead power lines

2= high frequency hi power sources and heavy use ( mobile phones next to head can lead to brain hot-spots and cancer etc if used excessively and for long periods when in contact with skull)

a good web search should enable you to arrive at plenty of data to show that almost without exception an wireless or normal wired internet connection ( providing not sleeping or working within a short distance) will not be hazardous to health.

Having the internet on all the time does not slow it down, and the idea that wireless signals are going to cause cancer is voodoo science.

A decade or two ago there was a huge scare that living near power lines caused cancer. The resulting scare caused several billion dollars in damages to home values. Science eventually disproved the concept, but people are always more interested in a scare than in a scare being debunked, so some people still believe it. If having your wireless router on all the time caused cancer, turning it off wouldn't fix anything because the air will always be filled with wireless signals from other routers, radio stations, airplanes, cell phones, and who knows how many other sources.

I suppose it couldn't hurt to turn it off every night to save power, but it's an inconvenience and definitely not one worth losing your head over. Besides, I think it's more dangerous for a boy to grow up being afraid of wireless signals than it would be for him to sleep while the wireless router is on. The more paranoid a person is, the less they actually live. Try looking up an old TV show called "Are We Scaring Ourselves to Death." I think you'd really enjoy it.

I think that wireless internet might be bad for your body in the same way as bluetooth. Internet isn't slowed down when it is turned off at night, but it doesn't make it faster eighter.

There is nothing bad about turning it off, except for the fact that it is quite useless work as there are probably a lot more wireless connections nearby, so there is still that internet in the air.

It's perfectly fine to always leave your net on... Its a getting older standard that if you shut if off when not using that your safe from invasion types. If you have good virus protection that is always running then you have no need to shut off the internet.. In addition, Shutting Off your internet will slow the acquisition of very important updates relating to your pc, virus sofware and other important software..

As for health, as long as your not using the Wireless Router for a pillow, then you are not in a health risk for anything

Wait? For HEALTH? They can't be serious.

Computers use radio wave signals for wireless internet just the same as: Cell phones, GPS, Radio, TV, cordless phones, remote starters, OR ANY OTHER WIRELESS DEVICE.

Radio waves cannot hurt you.

The only valid reason to turn it off would be to ensure no one hijacks your internet connection.

some people indeed believe that the radiation from these kind of devices is harmfull

but even that will merely refer to motivational problems

but then again people who believe that aso believe it can be solved by putting a quartz stone next to your bed

so no it is not harmfull in any way

and your internet will not become slower from turning it on and off
