I opened it this morning and each page is taking a long time to load up. My computer and internet explorer are working fine, though I am scanning for viruses just to make sure.

Deleted all my browsing history and unistalled and reinstalled... nothing changed. Wondering what is wrong? Or how can I fix it. I love firefox, it's normally my favourite browser!

The Windows Registry is the master control center for your operating system and applications it runs. Corruption or overload registry issues can cause all sorts of pc performance problems, including poor application startup times, slow Windows start-up, extremely slow shut down, slow internet surfing, inability to resume from computer sleep and more.Cleaning, compacting, and optimizing your Windows registry can go a long way to dramatically speeding up your computer’s performance, start-up and shutdown speed.

Sounds like you've got some serious malicious malware or trojan or virus here. When you say uninstalled and reinstalled do you mean the firefox browser? If so, that should solve the corruption of the software. There's nothing amiss with your Control Panel icons is there?

Go to your Control Panel and have a look at all the programs that is stored there. Check to see if any of them look suspicious or new, or haven't seen before.

Also another reason could be that firefox is undergoing some kind of maintenance update, and have not indicated likewise. A process of elimination, painful and tedious I know, but unless you're an IT person or an expert, its trial and error for the lay person.

I hope what I've said will be of some help.

give up on firefox it has too many problems in the latest editions try orca, k-meleon or flock all mozilla browsers like firefox but faster and without the problems, firefox help and mozillazine both deny there are any problems but there are hundreds of reported problems with firefox all over the internet. check your task manager firefox sometimes opens multiple times and freezes the computer without opening any windows something mozillazine "experts" say is impossible, new versions of firefox seem to have a lot of problems with web pages that have multiple small images

Its could be several factors. Here's how to get around it.

First, check your add-ons. Go to Tools, then add-ons and in the "Extension" tab uninstall or disable any add-on that you don't use. This includes Java Quick Starter and Microsoft .NET Framework Assistance.

Second, while in add-ons, go to the "Plugins" tab and disable any plugins that cause your browser to slow down. In particular these tree.

-Adobe Acrobat, which bring up PDF files from websites onto your browser. Turning it off will prevent this and your PDF files will open externally.

-get Plus Plus for Adobe. This is not needed.

- Java Platform.

-MetaStream

-Microsoft DRM

-QuickTime Plugin, which allows you to view QT video on websites

-Shockwave for Director

-Window Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link Library

and finally, Window Presentation Foundation.

All of the above is not needed.

Third, you can tweak Firefox to run faster on your computer. The link below is video on how to do it.

Don't forget to restart Firefox in order for the changes to take affect.

Fourth, if you download files into your computer, go to Tool then Download and delete to files from the download list.

If you don't want to have any download file in the status bar in the future, go to Tools, then Option. Click on the "Privacy" icon and unchecked the box that says "Remember Download History."

Finally, always, always clean out your recent history, that way Firefox can work faster. Try doing every two weeks or every month, its up to you. If you don't how to clean out your browsing history, the video link below will show you how.

This measure works well with all versions.

I hope this information is very helpful.

Good luck and happy browsing.

2 Words, Google Chrome. Just give it a shot, it still has extensions and skins and such, just like FF does. If that was not the problem just uninstall it and move on with your life.
