I'm thinking of starting a blog for teens. I realize that there are loads of teen blogs everywhere, but I feel like I have a lot of expertise on style and beauty advice, etiquette tips, etc. What are some websites that serve as good foundations for blogs, and what computer skills do I need to have to start a blog?

Thanks =]

You don't really need any computer skills. Go to blogger.com and register and choose a name for your blog. Make sure the name is for keywords that people would type in the internet to find you. If the name is taken, you can use dashes in between the words, like "beauty-advice-and-tips " When your blog is complete, go to pingoat.com and ping it. It will get it indexed in the search engines.

http://www.webs.com/ might be a good choice from what I remember when I was a younger (it was formerly called freewebs)

www.blogger.com is a good website to use, especially since a lot of more experienced bloggers use it. A knowledge of coding is not really a big deal in either choice.

You should begin with a little introduction about you, what your interests are about, what you will talk about, etc. You might want to put that in your first post and/or a sidebar.

Plan out what you want to write in a little notebook. It is ideal that you update your page almost daily, so schedule what you will post/when so that you don't post 10 things on one day and have nothing to talk about for a couple weeks.

For your readers, you should definitely focus on maybe being more professional. You will have a greater audience if you use correct spelling and punctuation. Don't use too many colors or changes in font.

Lastly, promote your blog. You might want to put links up on your facebook/myspace/other forums you post in. Make sure you have an email you regularly check (but make it separate from your personal email for school/work). Talk with/introduce yourself with other bloggers of similar interest. This is important so you can spread the word on important pieces of news and cite other bloggers with information.

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website/weblog. If you are going to create your blog website: 1- Buy a domain name. A domain name is a name you want to call your website (ex: www.yahoo.com). To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your blog online at your purchased domain name.

If you’re going to start your blog at your own domain with different pages, you need a web host providing wordpress.

Take a look at:

There you can reach the three reputable companies that are leaders in the blog/wordpress website hosting industry.

Another useful link:

There you can find a step-by-step guide to start your website.

Hope this helps.
