There is alot of news on torrents and stuff and on forums I find many talk about usenet, so just need the following info.

1. Brief explanation
2. How private is it?

Usenet is a very old discussion-group system that predates the internet. Files can be posted into the groups, so that's why you hear about it in torrent forums. Some ISP's still offer free access to Usenet, otherwise you have to sign up with a Usenet company. It is far more private than torrents (while leeching) because you only connect to one Usenet server instead of joining a swarm where anybody can see your IP address.
