How can i email a folder containing 68 pictures easily?
2009-09-05 06:46:35 UTC
I want to email the folder to a relative who isn't very pc literate so it needs to be easy to open, i.e. no need to download a program in order to open the folder.
Can anyone make any suggestions please on how to send? 10 points for the first good answer as I want to send them asap.
Thanks.

Right-click on the folder -> Copy to -> archive(or something similar, I have to translate it from dutch to english, so it may differ).
Unless your relative doesn't have windows XP or above, this works.
You will get a compressed file, by the way(a folder with a zip, with the extension .zip).

A good link where you can get winrar is: http://bit.ly/1t6dcCg
You can use winrar to unzip zip file and loads of other formats. A few more programs you can use are 7zip or winzip but I still beleive winrar is the best choice. They work pretty much in the same way: you can compress or decompress files easily with a right-click.
The big advantages of Winrar are: it's free (it's available under a trial version that never expires) and can open all the formats: .zip, .rar, .7z / 7zip, .iso, .tar, .jar etc.
That's why I strongly recommend winrar.

Yes, you can easily e-mail a folder containing as many pictures. Just you need to zip it.
Zipping steps:
1. Right-click on the folder you want to send,
2. Go to 'Send to' option, and
3. Then click on the Compressed (zipped) folder.
See, it doesn't require any software.
Now, send this zipped folder as an e-mail attachment.
Then just ask the other side to open the zipped folder and view any of the image, an option will come to 'extract all' and all the images will be opened. So simple it is.

Well, I would've suggested compressing the folder with winrar, but I'm not sure how foreign the pc is to your relative. Just email it normally, as there's no other faster, simpler method besides physically giving them the photos.

WinRar is the software you need to decompress all kind of compressed files, documents or folders.
I've used Winrar . Link -> http://j.mp/1p3PmSf
I hope it helps

upload the file with the pictures to www.megaupload.com and give her the download link for the file.
once shes finished downloading it from the link u gave her there will not be any need to unzip or uncompress the file or anything like that, all the pics will just be in the folder like how u currently have them now.

it may sound stupid but it will help whoever receives your emails send photos a few at a time as attachments in 3or 4 emails

You can upload them to file hosting sites like rapidshare, yousendit and hotfile. They give you a link to send to your friend and she can download it from there. They accept really large files, from 250mb to 1gb. Fast downloads too.
