I have a cable modem and everything was working until my kids started creating my space pages. I noticed some spyware software keep changing the homepage and I could no longer get to the page to sign in to my yahoo email....it just locks up and at the top it flashes back and forth from the yahoo homepage to the sign on page. I downloaded some spyware removal software (SpySweeper) and thought I had removed it all. Now when I try to get online, it tells me that I am not connected to the internet..to check my cables. The cables have not been removed. Can someone please help???!!!!!!

Unfortunately for you, SpySweeper causes almost as many problems as it can solve. Please, go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall this piece of junk. You do have spyware, and something called a browser hijacker, which keeps hijacking your home page.

Get SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad0Aware to safely remove spyware. Best of all, they are free. After installing SpyBot, immunize the computer against over 17,000 known pieces of spyware. Then run a full bot check and remove everything it finds using the Fix Selected Problems tab. Keep it updated and run it weekly to keep your computer free of this stuff. Then get Ad-Aware also from download.com and run it the first time doing a Full System Scan. Thereafter, run a Smart Scan daily.

Keep them both updated and use them weekly.

Yes, it's more commonly reassigning an additional residence web page. If it used to be the routing numbers you're going to be more commonly having issues with different web systems reminiscent of e mail (for those who use an e mail software as a substitute than a internet browser) - if you're, good then it might be someting like routing or dns or your web connection is not operating, I presume you have got additionally checked cables are on your laptop and modem appropriately and the lighting at every finish of your cable are flashing to exhibit the relationship is operating and many others?

That means either:

1) The spyware is still present and it's blocking your internet

2) The spyware's damage has been done.

You can either:

1) Download another kind of spyware removal software.

2)Download a anti-virus software(just in case it's actually a virus)

3) IF worse comes to worse, reformat your com. all your info will be gone, but so will the spyware.

did you try restarting your computer? you can also do this..try to get to tools>internet options> and where it says home page, type in which one you want to open with, for example msn.com, then click on ok, reboot and see if it changed....if you cannot get to the settings this way, then go to start>internet connections and change the opening page there in the same way as i stated first. click on ok then reboot
