As long as the file system is capable of files over 4GB, i.e NTFS, ext2, 3 or 4 (FAT file systems can not) and the flash drives are formatted the same and obviously large enough) the just copy and paste A lot of flash drives are come pre formatted using FAT and will need reformatting before they are capable of storing files over 4GB What do you mean "it can only operate with a single instance of an operating system"? If you buy a large enough flash drive and reformat it to NTFS then as long as all computers involved use a file system which is capable of large files i.e. NTFS ext3, etc then you will not have any problems.

4.4 GB is a large file. The easiest way to transfer this would be p2p. Check out http://www.gigatribe.com/en/home and set up a p2p network for you and your friend. Then share anything you want!

Hope this helps

www.utorrent.com (limewire type program)

can try using an ftp client for you (filezilla comes to mind) and gene6ftp server for them. google the program name and "torrent" after you got utorrent.

also back in the day i liked "hotline client, hotline server". 1.8.4 was the version for both. worked great before it was discontinued.

can TRY sending it on google talk instant messaging or msn.

can use a usb chip over 4gb to usb in, copy over, and give to them if local (or mail it if not).

can burn a dvd (http://cdburnerxp.se/ ) and send them that

can use a portable hard drive in a usb case. :D

if the file is something they can just download off the net, send them the link to the common file (google and add the word torrent for the search)

Burn it to a DVD and just exchange it that way. 4.4GB will take an eternity to send online..
