Two possibilities:
1) Your ISP connection software has a timeout configured to shut down your connection after an hour of inactivity. Solution: change the timeout, or stop using the ISP's software and configure Windows to connect without it. You usually don't need it.
2) Your broadband device is using DHCP to assign your PC an IP address, and changing it frequently. The PC doesn't keep up, and when they get out of sync they don't talk any more. Solution: configure the device to assign your PC a static IP based on its network card's MAC address.
Your ISP's customer support should be able to talk you through either of these things.

Look under tools, internet options, connections.
Make sure that your settings are NOT set to disconnect after a certain amount of time. You should have it set to always on.

maybe you have configured your pc settings of hard disk to shutdown every 1 hr. or so?! try to check it in your contol panel - performance and maintainance - power options; that might solve your query.

if it is dsl, it is a modem function, change the settings on the modem to stay always connected
