Today, whenever I tried to close out of an IE window, it wouldn't close at all and I'd have to shut down my computer. IE has just been lagging lately (And i know it's IE, I've done virus scans to check). So I decided to just switch to Google Chrome. But now I can't figure out how to uninstall IE? I've gone on Control Panel, and it's not under programs, and it isn't under Turn Windows Features On or Off. I don't know where I have to go to uninstall. Anyone want to help?

You cannot uninstall IE, it is integral to the operating system but there is no need to. Even if you could uninstall it, it isn't that big so it's not taking that much room on your HD. Unlike chrome and firefox, it has LESS memory leaks so it will NOT slow down your system as much without a periodic reboot. Chrome has more leaks, but they are getting better (and all you have to do is reboot every few days and you're fine).

You can use chrome, safari, opera or firefox without having to uninstall. Besides you wouldn't want to even if you could because not all browsers render html and xml the same way.

Chrome IS pretty snappy, however your issue is NOT that IE in inherently not as good a browser but more likely the issue is YOUR SURFING HABITS. It is likely your chrome will slow down eventually too. I personally like firefox 4.0 the best, but use chrome daily too.

I would recommend keeping chrome and when you have time, clearing cookies, cache and temp files in IE. Go into manage add ons and tun off all the junk. Just like a trailer on the back of your car, too many toolbars and add ons detract from your "experience" Run your anti spyware program.

HA!! I'm having a similar issue. Every time I try to close IE, either it freezes or it disappears, but my desktop freezes. I have to manually close iexplore from the Task manager. I actually JUST got Chrome within the last half hour, but don't really like it. It is very simple and doesn't support my Norton Security toolbar. I'm hoping this IE problem goes away

But anyway, the IE should be in Add or Remove programs.

it's likely it's not ie that is the problem, but too many other programs running or lack or ram to handle all. as said if you could manage to remove ie, likely windows wouldn't work either. and i would scan with a good malware scanner.

Sure IE is laggy but if you uninstall it it could effect your Internet. Google chrome or other browsers won't work only Firefox will as it use its own settings. Also download Accelerator won't work. AntiVirus Update and etc won't work. So i recommend that you let it in the Windows.

Ive got a laggy IE too, but then i switched to firefox. Its not recommended that you uninstall IE because it contains some useful information about your computer.

It may be a little difficult to uninstall internet explorer as it always combines well with OS. But I wish this will help you: http://www.pchelpdiy.com/blog/category/uninstall-internet-explorer/

You have to go to your Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs -> then choose windows comoponents.

Its under the Windows Components section

Sorry i don't use windows 7 or vista. sounds like you use that.

But it should be under your windows features.
