Question:
My Firefox has been REALLY slow, what can I do to fix it?

I started using Firefox a couple years ago because IE was being slow and in the past couple of weeks it has been VERY slow, as in it can take me 3 hours to post a Q on here. Luckily I decided to try Safari and that is why this isn't taking long at all, but I really LOVE Firefox so I would like the problem to be fixed.
When I have Firefox open it nearly crashes every other program that is open and makes them just as slow as Firefox. Restarting Firefox requires me to Ctrl Alt Del out of it and doesn't help at all. Restarting the computer doesn't help at all either.
The only thing that I have done that could have caused this was download add-ons from the Firefox website.
Just so you all know, this isn't a problem with my internet connection, I am 100% on that. I can't even type in boxes in Firefox without it taking 10 min for the words to show up, and it doesn't always type every word or letter that I do. I have downloaded the update and that didn't help.
If you don't have any idea why Firefox is doing this, can you tell me how to customize Safari? Like how to save the text size I want on each site that I visit and getting a toolbar icon that tells me when I have mail and how many are new?
Thanks

Several things you can do:

• Clear your private data - click Tools > Clear Private Data

• Disable your add-ons - Tools > Add-ons, click each add-on to highlight then click Disable

• Run CCleaner to get rid of unneeded & junk files http://www.ccleaner.com/

• Uninstall Firefox & get a fresh copy http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html

EDIT: If you uninstall Firefox, backup your bookmarks first. Click Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks, click Import & Backup > Backup, select folder to save them to (My Documents, so it's easy to find later)

You can use a registry cleaner to clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".

Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!

There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

Add-ons for firefox can really slow it down. Uninstall all add-ons that you don't use by going to tools>add-ons in firefox. If firefox doesn't open then uninstall it in the add or remove programs section of your control panel and reinstall it.
