A default browser in the one that comes up if you click a link in an email or document.

If you use internet explorer as your main browser then click yes.

Ignore the rabid opinions of the browser-heads. They are all just browsers - and internet explorer is a good one (especially IE9).

a default browser means a program the windows launches by default when trying to open a certain type of file. so if you had an html file (webpage) and ur default browser was internet explorer, the html file would be opened in internet explorer. internet explorer will also be used when a program automatically launches a webpage. you should make the default the browser the program you prefer using.

There are faster browsers than internet explorer but some reasons to make it your default are compatibility. ive had issues with chrome before on pages it couldn't open but internet explorer can. internet explorer also has the best security according to software tests and comparisons ive seen. i still recommend using another browser and setting it as default. such as chromium, google chrome, firefox, opera etc

A default browser is one that the computer uses as it's main browser of choice when a link is triggered.IE 9 that comes with windows 7 is an excellent browser these days. They have made it so it is no longer slow and the safety and security of it is just a good a Firefox or chrome.

In Internet Explorer: Go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs Tab Under the heading default web browser click "Make Default" and click ok. That's it set default. Hope this helped. ~

I have windows 7, why does the computer keep asking me if I want internet explorer as my default browser? Should I say yes or no?

You don't want too. Internet Explorer is slow. It keeps asking you because you most likely don't have it as your default browser. Default browser is what application you use to get onto the internet. If your computer has Google Chrome set as your default, when you use Internet explorer it is going to ask you that question.

My advice: Quit using Internet Explorer and use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. I would just delete the shortcut all together.

Cheers!

A default browser would mean that internet explorer would open automatically if you click on a link in another application .

I suggest you should use Google Chrome. Chrome is designed to be fast in every possible way. It's quick to start up from your desktop, loads web pages in a snap. On the other hand, Internet Explorer 8 does indicate to you up to five sites that are similar to the one that you have opened. But, this is restricted to the better known sites which have better page rankings. However, a user is generally already aware of such sites.

Personally I prefer Safari, but as an apple product it was not compatible with the Windows products and so I ran into all sorts of problems; and Google has too much baggage each time that I use it I end up with some sort of bug. I am using Firefox right now I feel it is just ok. IE is slow, but I can find myself doing better. All in all I find Safari is best, it is free of viruses, fast, a bit difficult to get used to, but it's the best of all experiences.

Thanks for all your inputs though I am considering all of your ideas.

YOU DON'T. Not ever. Internet Explorer (IE) sucks, big time.

You don't know what default means?????

It means the one you use always. The one your computer launches anytime you want to open a web page or link.

Default = a selection made usually automatically or without active consideration due to lack of a viable alternative - from Webster dictionary

For your web browser, use either Firefox Mozilla, Opera or Google Chrome.

DO NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER (IE), as it is the worst browser, and it can be easily attacked and infected.

As an added security measure, also install the WOT (Web of Trust) tool to all your browsers. It rates all websites, blocks access and also alerts you when you open an unsafe website, thus preventing most internet attacks or virus infections.

EDIT:

Lool, Adina found the only good use for IE..

Use it only to download other browsers.

Internet explorer is the only browser that isn't fake. The other ones are all just trolling you

Default browser is what your computer will always us, unless you instruct him to change this.

About IE: this is a joke, I know, but you can use IE for downloading other browsers. Me myself prefer Chrome.
