disconnects for no apparent reason. I contacted a few friends of mine and all of them have experienced the same problem. Does anybody know whether or not SBC DSL is doing something on their side? Initially, I thought it might be the router or the modem, so I bought 2 new ones to test out. Both had the same results. Intermittently, throughout the day, I will get a disconnect. This never happened before...just recently, about a few months ago.

If anybody have any information, please HELP!!

I've searched the Internet to no avail. Lots of complaints but no solutions.

have you called their support number (1-877-722-3755)? for intermittent connection --- there might be some problem with the line. have you asked them to have a line check? there are some process or troubleshooting they could give you to have it fixed... and it should be the line dept. who needs to check it for you. its not only on SBC server but also they need to check on your area, where there might be some circuit problem.

The best solution you can do, is to call SBC support line, they'll will tell you what to do, could be that you need to update tha DSL software from SBC. I had been using SBC/DSL for more the 3 years, and it works great for me. Good Luck

It may be that your modem is set to renew your IP address too often. IP Addresses are usually leased for 24 hours. On some modems, you can change this, or the default renew is set much lower. If this happened on a semi-regular basis, i.e - every 2 hours you would lose the connection, you should log into your modem and verify that the DHCP renew rate is 24 hours or so.

Good Luck !

click the start button , click on run type command then click ok

in the command box type : ping -t www.yahoo.com

this will do a continious replies read towards the end of each line, you will find time=--ms find what the time is and keep watching it, if it goes above 45 you need to contact sbc and tell them to fix it
