I want to start a IRC channel for discussing things related to tamil wikimedia projects. Please let me know how to start a channel / chat room like #tamil_wikimedia . Right now I use gaim and just know to enter already existing channels. Donno how to create a new one.

For starters you can just type: /join #tamil_wikimedia

You will automatically join a new channel named that.



If you want it to remain a channel on the server, you need to register it with the server. Unfortunately that is the limit of my knowledge. I don't tend to start my own channels permanently.

Without hesitation I would tell them to stop, justified or not. If someone has issues with another, s/he should talk to the other person about it and be a frickin gossip. There are just too many people whose shoes we have not walked in to offer criticisms about others.
