I have just installed WordPress on my site:

http://dodgecountyclassifieds.com/SayHello/

I haven't played around with it at all and not sure if I like it yet (forgive the site - it is only used for testing software - and is not a commercial site)

It would be nice to develop such a system myself but I just don't have the time.

What I don't like about a lot of these is the branding you can't get rid of - like 'WordPress' on every page.

Would be nice to find something without this branding.

Use the big sites for bloging like blogspot, yahoo, myspace and wordpress because these sites are free, more famous and there millions of people use these site it is relatively easy to atract some one to visit your blog.

Hereunder are some tips for the new bloger to increase the traffic of their blogs.

Url:

url of the blog should not be your name. But you should use Generic keyword in the URL of your blog like

http://vitiligo.blog.co.uk/

http://vitiligo-herbs.blogspot.com/

http://vitiligo.rediffiland.com/blogs/20...

in these blogs the key word vitiligo is used.

Title:

select the title of the blog which people more use in the their search query to get good result position in the search engine.

Text of the Blog:

keep your text clean and your wording should be simple and comprehencive.

If you took data from any source. dont copy and paste only instead change the wording from the source. For exapmle the data of the above blogs are taken from an authorized vitiligo site http://www.antivitiligo.com/ but the wording is different from the source.

use images in your blog if you need.

Design:

most bloggers offer to use html in their blog. First make an test html file for your blog. apply table and divs . if suitable then copy the your content with html and paist in the edit box.

never forget to preview before publishing your blog

You have to decide whether you want to go with a free hosted blog service or a self hosted blog...

1. free hosted blog services, like BlogSpot, WordPress.COM and Yahoo360, are free to use, but you do not own the blog and you are limited with what you can do with them.

2. Using a "self hosted" blog, such as WordPress.ORG, means that you will need to pay for a domain name (~$8) and hosting ($8+), but you then own your own domain and blog and you can choose exactly what you want to do with it, it can't be closed down by someone else, which can and does happen sometimes with fre hosted blog services.

starting with a free blog service seems the obvious choice, but remember you won't be able to transfer all of your content and the links to your blog to a new self hosted blog at a later date.

If you are just interested in blogging for fun and to try it out then go with the free option, but if you discover you do enjoy it and want to build it in to a "business", then I would recommend moving to a self hosted blog asap.

All of the worlds top bloggers, like Darren Rowse (problogger.net) and Chris Garrett (ChrisG.com), have self hosted blogs, as it gives them total control over their own blog business.

hope this helps.

You definitely want to got to blogspot. I have been with them for only a short time but I have found it to be great. It's free and you can do so many things! Hope I helped. There are no mistakes to avoid. But maybe you don't want to go to google and search "free blogs" because that will give you crap. GO TO BLOGSPOT!

Multiply.com! The common mistakes is simple. Don't post too much information about yourself. But if you do, set it where only your contacts can see.
