Ctrl + H - When your browser is open just press Ctrl + H to view history.
To clear history, just go to:
Tools > Internet Options > Delete Browsing History > Delete all.
If your not already using Firefox, I strongly recommend it. It's a much better and safer alternative to IE and you can set it up to clear the history each time you close the browser automatically. I also highly recommend CCleaner. CCleaner is free and removes all traces of your online activities.

you can't view messenger usage but you can look up internet history. using vista nad internet explorer 7 go to the View tab | Explorer Bar | History and you will see a window come up for it, using firefox: go to the history tab | show in sidebar and there you go, those should be the same settings for xp and mac too.

Messenger usage, not possible. Internet history, easily available in internet history.
