Question:
Problem with Firefox bookmarks?

So in the last couple of days I've had nothing but problems with my firefox bookmarks. First they went missing, well I found somebody online who gave me the way to find the backup. I restored them, it worked. Then the next day I went to save a new bookmark & it's trying to save it as a different website.

Example: I want to bookmark Yahoo Answers, I go to save it & it saves it as a weather page.

I'm still not sure how to fix that. Now today, it was fine up until a couple of hours ago and now when I go to click any one of my already saved bookmarks from a long time ago, it takes it directly to BBC News & I don't even have that page bookmarked.

Please somebody help me out?! I'm not sure what to do. Some of these bookmarks I can't loose & I don't have the time to copy each & every website down. Anybody able to tell me what is going on & how to fix it?

It sounds like you have a "browser hijacker" It's a malware infection. Run this:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

That should get any infections you have.

Are you sure you're bookmarking your pages properly?

You shouldn't be clicking File>>>Save Page As. That is for when you want to have seperate bookmarks.

It's much easier to click Bookmarks>>>Bookmark This Page>>>Done.

Do a little test to see if there's something wrong with your bookmarks. Bookmark a website. Then click Bookmarks>>>Organise Bookmarks. On the menu on the left click Bookmarks Menu.

Then go the the bookmark you just created and look under location. If the location link is different to the link you just bookmarked then I would say that you have a virus. Because I always have over 100 Bookmarks and I never get any problems. So you should scan your system asap.

Also you don't have to copy each website when you want to save your bookmarks. Just click Bookmarks>>>Organise Bookmarks. Then click Import and Backup. Then click Export HTML. Then choose the folder to save your bookmarks. You can open this with firefox to view your bookmarks in a list, or if your on a new computer and you want to add your bookmarks to firefox automatically you click Import HTML.

Hope this helps.
