You can automatically check virus attack by adjusting your preferences in Antivirus software to automatically scan before opening the mails. For this u must have updated definitions of your signatures files of Anti-virus software.

If you download the virus depending on your AV software it will warn you OR if you have not kept proper security then it will enter your system and start its activity. It can harm files and spread to many areas depending on type of virus that attacked.

1. If you are using pop e-mail accounts from your hosting provider then depending on hosting company your email will be automatically scan and safely reach to you.

2. If you are using free web based mails to recieve emails then you need to have antivirus software installed on your system.

3. Norton Antivirus perfomance wise is best but consumes more system resorces. While AVG free version is fast but does not catch all virus.

The above programs tells the virus details, type and its role in affecting types of files.

Hope this all things will help your virus worries!!

First of all, you should have some sort of Virus protection for your PC. Make sure you do some scans every once in a while to make sure your files are safe and not infected. If you download a Virus into your computer, yes it's a MAJOR problem, not only for you, but to anyone else you come in contact with via the Internet. It spreads like a Virus spreads to wipe out the whole human race. It destroys your files and makes your computer virtually crippled. Once installed, it's very, very, very hard to get removed. ANY kind of Virus, whether it's small or big is cause for alarm. Opening an e-mail Attachment from an unknown source is the most common way to get a Virus, so be extra careful before opening any Attachments from people you DON'T know.

usually if you use a free mail account from major companis like hotmail (from microsoft) or yahoo mail they will automaticall scan the file for viruses and then delete it for you and YES THE VIRUS WILL BE A PROBLEM IF DOWNLOADED!!!

Viruses come from computer programmers who find glitches in programs and exploit them in order to demage your computer.

What is meant by a virus is that it attacks your computer and then spreads onto others just like a real virus would.
