I am interested in an email service that does not force you to give them your private phone number. Does anyone know of any good ones?

I will not give my private phone number out to just anyone, and especially not on the internet.

Sign up for any of the usual suspects- Yahoo, Google, or Hotmail. Give them any random phone number. So far as the provider of my throw-away account is concerned, my home phone number is the Little Caesars in town.

It probably violates some terms of service or another, but those companies will never call to verify if you

gave a bogus phone number or not.

I have Yahoo mail, without providing a phone number. But I was grandfathered in from the old days. I think the feature is supposed to be for account recovery, but like you, I'm leery of putting down a number.

I'm not saying this is a useful answer to you, but if you maintain your own email server, you're not giving your number to anyone, except the domain registrar (who has never called me, ever). The only problem is it takes a while for recipients to not reject you as a spammer. Gmail rejected messages from my server for almost a year before they allowed me in.

You're not in a position to demand features from a service for which you're not paying.

Then you will not gey an email account.
