Question:
My internet speed just tested at 236 mbps on download and 24 for upload and I wonder if that is good or not?

If it is good is there some way I am supposed to notice the performance? I am just not too knowledgeable on this topic

That's really pretty good. A lot of people have speeds like 30 MBPS Download and like 5 or 10 upload, so, consider yourself lucky. My ISP (Tine Warner Cable) now has the capacity for a a Gigabit, but they obviously cap it depending on what you pay. I regularly clock my speeds with OOKLA both wired and on my Wifi, and I've gotten as high as 95 MBPS. But cable speeds can vary depending how many customers are using it at a given moment. Hope this helps.

Hello :)

For an average household those numbers (236 Mbps downloads / 24 Mbps uploads) these numbers are excellent! Now it does come down to how many devices you have on the network and what is happening with them. Streaming movies will use a lot of the download bandwidth. You asked, "If it is good is there some way I am supposed to notice the performance?" and this can be tested by having multiple devices using the internet at one period in time. If the internet gets "laggy" or slows down with a specific number of devices then you know your limit. If you have just one computer in the home that you simply check your email with then this might be more speed than you need.

I hope this helps :)

236mbps - I think that far exceeds anything you can get in the UK. Our speed is about 2-3mbps here (thanks to BT for having such an antiquated copper wire system), and when I used to live in Warrington we had 40mbps (thanks to Virgin) and that was really fast, your getting over 100 times the speed we get here and over 4 times what we had in Warrington.

Your best way to notice the speed is to try and download some torrents (legal torrents!!!) and watch how quickly they download. Browsing the web you probably won't notice the speed because the screen will load so fast anyway and downloading things from websites your speed might actually exceed the speed that the website company can supply it to you, but to really notice the speed if you download some kind of torrent then you will notice the speed because a torrent is split into multiple parts and spread across many people so they can all give you a bit of their upload speed.

It is a theoretical speed for your particular connection. Some ISPs are now offering speeds that can be easily handled by dedicated fiber optic cables. The UPLOAD speed could theoretically be JUST as FAST as the download speed to that particular server. You ISP might be placing a severe restriction on you upload speed. It doesn't mean it is bad performance....many can easily get away with 2 megabit upload and not care at all.

236 mbps is pretty awesome, since that's 29.5 megabytes per second. With my 50 mbps connection I only get about 5.7 MB/s tops.

You will not really notice how fast that really is while browsing, only when you download big files. A one gigabyte file will take about 35 seconds. That's very fast.

That's just huge Bandwidth, that's NOT speed.

Bandwidth affects speed only when there's not enough bandwidth.

You may only notice it is fast when you use P2P software to download large files. Otherwise you cannot even use that much bandwidth anyways and for all intends and purposes the connection is as good as a 10mbps one.

Bandwidth is practically useless for gaming and website responsiveness.

Latency is what's important.

In many areas, business pay premium for reduced latency. Their connections are FAST and super responsive.

The com companies route the important business internet data before they route data from your home connections.

That is really huge speed. The single most important think to have fun using internet is having a great bandwidth. When I see that YouTube videos are buffering for ten seconds, I feel the most horrible. Enjoy your bandwidth in downloading and uploading things in internet.

Usually, download speeds are faster than upload speeds. It depends on your service though because sometimes you can have equal upload speeds as your download speeds. Sometimes, company's will actually use faster upload speeds than download speeds if their sending a lot of large files via email or uploading it to their website.

You have incredible speed. Man I wish I had that. In fact I believe that's still too much speed for one individual. Hmmm...the power I would have with using that kind of speed. I using 18 mbps =/ & it's still decent for my personal use. Hoping to switch to comcast & get 75 mbps :D

Your kidding in your question right or just gloating that you have a better speed than 10mbps. The speed you have is super super fast download. The upload not bad.

My speed is for megabits: 13mbps download, 560kbps upload, 150gb cap, $61.00/mth canadian.

But, Google Fiber and AT&T can get higher speeds.

Jeremy is correct, the speed is way above average in America. You will notice the performance when you download or stream videos. It should only take a few minutes for a whole movie. I have a 50/10 connection.

I get between 13-15 mbps, only cause my modem is like 10 years old. (Thanks Luxury Apartments, trash)

my upload is 1.35mbps. Ping is how long it takes to get to the server and back..

I paid $40/month for internet and basic tv. Pre-Packaged deals are good.

That's good? But is it actual bandwidth or just Raw Bandwidth. in ireland, we will be getting 1GB/s raw, but maybe 40-50MB/s actual bandwidth. Check using speedtest.net and see if it's really worth the price you're paying for it. Probably not, cause you will hardly need all that speed unless you are hosting 100 servers for big companies like google, etc.

It would be impossible to give you even a simple answer to your question without knowing any of the following: internet provider name (e.g., AOL, your local utility company, etc), the speed you are paying for (i.e., many internet service providers (ISPs) have tiered rates depending on which speed you want for your home or business computer), the type of modem you have, the type of connection to your computer (i.e., wifi, ethernet, phone, etc), and your computer's processing speed, including internet data bandwidth capabilities, etc. In other words, the more information you provide, the easier it would be to answer your question. However, in terms of human ergonomics, if you are able to get a simple web page, such as Yahoo Answers, to appear in a few seconds, and a video or game to play with little or no delays, then your speeds are probably good for you. Otherwise, try to find a knowledgeable friend or family member to help you figure out why your system seems to be running slowly: internet provider, the speed you are paying for (i.e., many internet service providers (ISPs) have tiered rates depending on which speed you want for your home or business computer), the type of modem you have, the type of connection to your computer (i.e., wifi, ethernet, phone, etc), and your computer's processing speed, including internet data bandwidth capabilities, etc. In other words, the more information you provide, the easier it would be to answer your question. Think of it this way: Most cars can go well over 80 miles per hour, but few drivers do so, simply because they don't need to. Likewise, you may be paying for tons of speed that you simply don't need, especially if all you do is surf basic websites, like Yahoo, and use e-mail. In terms of human ergonomics, if you are able to get a simple web page, such as Yahoo Answers, to appear in a few seconds, and a video or game to play with little or no delays, then your speeds are probably good for you. If the system seems slow, it may not be the provider's fault; try to find a knowledgeable friend or family member to help you figure out why your system seems to be running slowly. Worse case scenario: Call your ISP and ask for help, though, most likely, since you are able to communicate on this web page, you are probably "okay", and it wouldn't be worth the ISP's or your time to investigate it (some ISPs charge for house calls, so, it may not be worth your money, either!).

Raw bandwidth is one thing, having a descent connection another. Go to pingtest.net to check out if your connection is as stable as well. For online gaming you need pings at least below 100ms. Otherwise, your speeds are above average. I have a 120/12mbps connection, I could get the 200/20 version, but I don't need that.

What is AIDC?

Automatic identification and data capture largely known as AIDC refers to the procedures of automatically identifying various technical objects, gathering data about those objects, and entering them directly into more than one particular computer systems. This procedure requires no human involvement and can run in an absolutely automatic way. Technologies which are usually considered as segments of AIDC are bar codes, biometrics, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), magnetic stripes, voice recognition, smart cards etc. AIDC is also known as "Automatic Data Capture", "Auto-ID", "Automatic Identification" etc. With the increasing popularity of AIDC services, the demand of AIDC experts and solutions providers is also escalating.

Functions of These Services:

The fundamental functions served by AIDC devices are mainly to validate, identify, track, evaluate targets, monitor and interface with multiple other systems applying numerous application methodologies. Establishing frameworks for receiving solutions in an AIDC environment do vary and also depend a lot on the platforms that are meant for implementation. Solutions for bar codes, biometrics, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), magnetic stripes, voice recognition, smart cards etc. may not at all be interchangeable. Each of these above-mentioned platforms can be made stand-alone or can easily function in combination of other technologies seamlessly.

Benefits of Applying AIDC:

There is more than just one benefit that a business owner receives when he decides to take help of AIDC. Those benefits include:

This method is automatic and the efforts of neither you nor any other human being are required for the functioning of this process.

The clumsiness of the data entry process through human beings is absent in this matter.

AIDC is the least error prone when it is compared to manual work.

It can largely be applied in various inventory management procedures.

The productivity and overall growth of your business are taken to another level when you consider using this technology.

Security, logistics, access control, asset management and document retrieval turns much easier.

Benefitted Domains:

The AIDC technology is so beneficial that all sorts of business nowadays have accepted it to make their tasks easier and bring more prosperity to them. Starting from health care centers and medicinal enterprises to manufacturing and retail firms, all have owned this technology to keep a hassle-free record. Even governmental organizations have also been benefitted using this. Amongst the mostly benefitted sectors, transport firms are one major domain. They have been applying this technology for keeping huge track records of the goods which are transported regularly and also the people who rely on those transports for moving to different places.

The accuracy of AIDC technology has made it much more popular. With this people are relying on more on this technology. So, quite naturally, the popularity of AIDC experts and solutions providers is also going higher. If you are a businessman and wish to bring more ease and effectiveness to your business you can surely get in touch with such an expert. He will show you the applications and will be there in your needs related to troubleshooting and much more.
