does Yahoo! own Google?

i was recently complaining about the fact that Yahoo! was having problems in sending emails and one friend suggested to use Gmail (the free-mail counterpart of Google). Another friend mentioned that Yahoo! owned Google and so I was just curious if this was true.

Not yet, but Google seems poised to slowly take over the world so maybe someday soon.

Yahoo is a separate company with better email, for me, more secure, a better internet portal for me also with more content.

Google is a newer company and growing very fast, a competitor to Yahoo, initially a search engine for finding things on the internet and a very good on at that. Google is now trying to branch out into other areas and is competing with Yahoo. I know that some others like google email. I do think that either one may have problems, that may not be their fault, but due to problems with the internet itself. Yahoo does a super job sending emails for me.
