I signed up for an account with Go Daddy to build a site for my little daughter. She's 10 months old. I want to password protect the site so only family and friends can see it.

I called customer support at Go Daddy and they said they can't figure out how to password protect a web site with their new version of website builder. Really?

The domain I have is a .ca, so I'm looking to see if anyone knows of a good web hosting company, one that has a canned website builder capable of password protecting a site.

I think they leave that to credit card processing companies . What you can do is to create front page (index.html) with just a name on it so nobody can see other folders on server . Than make folders like mydaugter.com/photosbrrt/index.html and give that address to family to see photos instead of mydaughter.com/index.html on which will be just a name but no links to photos . I hope you understand what I mean .
