What would cause my site to work as http://mywebsite.net but not http://www.mywebsite.net?

(To keep my website annonymous, I replaced my real domain name with mywebsite.net but I hope you get the point). http://www.mywebsite.net gets redirected to the SSL VPN (Juniper)

While most servers redirect the "www" subdomain to the same place as when you don't type it, others do not. You can set up your server to have "www" point to one folder while leaving it out points somewhere else. WWW is just a subdomain on any server.

If you have a hosting service, ask them how to change this for your particular setup, but that's the reason. Every now and then you'll find a site that's setup where you must type the "www" in order to get to the actual site.

This should be some configuration problem with your domain name control pannel or you have created a subdomain www.
