You can configure Yahoo! Mail to retrieve messages from most external mail accounts to which you have POP access. An account with POP access is one that you are able to access through an external email client such as Outlook, Eudora, or Netscape Mail.
Follow the instructions below to add settings for a new external (POP) mail account. Yahoo! Mail can store settings for up to three different accounts at one time.
To add an account using the setup wizard:
Click the "Mail Options" link on the top right-hand side of the screen, and then choose "Mail Accounts" located under the Mail Management column.
Click the "Add Button" on the Mail Accounts page.
Enter an account name. For example, Work, School, etc.
Enter your (POP) mail server name (only POP mail servers are supported at this time).
Enter your user name and password. Please note: The user name is different than your email address. Typically it is the text in your email address before the "@" symbol. Your password is whatever you use to access your external mail account and not necessarily your Yahoo! password.
Select an indicator color to mark messages received from this account.
Click the "Add Account" button. Your account is now added.
To configure your account manually:
Click the "Mail Options" link on the top right-hand side of the screen, and then choose "Mail Accounts" located under the Mail Management column.
Click the "Add Button" on the Mail Accounts page.
In the upper right-hand area of hte page, click the "Configure Account Manually" link.

Designate a folder to route incoming messages.
In the Options category, check the boxes next to do the following:
Override default POP port - If you know your POP server uses a port other than 110, enter here. Note: Yahoo! Mail Support doesn't know and can't provide you with the server name, port number, user name, or password for your external mail account. For assistance tracking down this information, contact your ISP or network administrator.
Leave mail on POP server - Specify whether messages retrieved to your Yahoo! account will also remain in your external mail account or whether they will be deleted from your external mail server.
Retrieve new messages only - Specify whether Yahoo! Mail retrieves only the new messages in your external mail account or all messages.
Click the "Add Account" button. Your account is now added.
Currently, you can't configure Yahoo! Mail to retrieve messages from a web-based email account such as a RocketMail or another Yahoo! Mail account that has been set up for POP access. Yahoo! Mail Support doesn't know and can't provide you with the server name, port number, user name, or password for your external mail account. For assistance tracking down this information, contact your ISP or network administrator.
To retrieve your messages from an external mail account, click the appropriate server name on the left-hand navigation bar (you may also check your external mail account(s) by clicking on the "Check Other Mail" link on the left-hand navigation bar). Messages from the selected server will be retrieved to your Yahoo! Mail account.
Yahoo! Mail will retrieve messages from your external (POP) mail accounts only when you request it.
Note: Yahoo! now offers a new service called Yahoo! Mail Plus. In addition to receiving messages from your external mail accounts, you can also send messages from those accounts. When you write a message, just select the "From" email address you want to use.
