Hi, If I change to a different internet company can you see the history from the old internet company or your laptop? And if you get another laptop but with the same internet company can you check the internet history of the old laptop from the new laptop? Thanks, I was asking because I have been in some websites that I don't remember the name of that I may need to go again, Thanks!

How are you getting your history? If you’re just going to the history tab on your web browser (ie Internet Explorer), that’ll stay with the computer until you or the browser removes it. The ISP generally keeps history of the sites you go to forever, but usually don’t give anyone access to this without a warrant or copyright infringement claim.

The new laptop won’t display the history of the old laptop, unless you keep the two computers synchronized, or ’transfer’ the contents of the old laptop onto the new one. In order to do either you need access to the old laptop. If you transfer the old laptop to the new one, the history will become out of sync; as in one computer will have records of visiting websites and the other computer won’t.

Yes, your browser software (whether it's Internet Explorer, Firefox, or some other internet browser) is what keeps the record of your browsing history. It retains a list of the sites you've visited and when you visited them. Your browsing history is accessed from your laptop, not the internet company. But if you want to transfer your old browsing history to a new laptop, it can get a bit technical. You might want to get somebody who knows computers to help you transfer the information.

How To Email Your Favorites To Anyone In Internet Explorer

Click on Favorites.

From the menu, select Import and Export.

The pop-up window will ask, “How do you want to export or import your browser settings?”

Select Export to a file. Click Next.

Next, you’ll be asked, “What would you like to export?”

Choose Favorites. Click Next.

You will be instructed to “Select the folder that you want to export your favorites from.”

I selected Digital Photography, but you might decide to share Financial Tips, Crockpot Recipes, or Game Cheat Codes – whichever favorites file you’d like to email.

Click Next.

The next prompt will ask, “Where do you want to export your favorites?”

Type in or browse to find a location. I placed my file in C:\Temp\Favorites, but you can place it anywhere you wish.

Click Export. Click Finish.

Now you’ve created a file of your favorites. Compose an email and attach the file to your email before sending it. If you use Microsoft Outlook, simply click Insert > Attach File. On the other hand, if you use a web mail interface such as Gmail, just click Attach a File and locate the file on your hard drive.

Send your email.

Once the recipient gets the email and clicks on the attachment, a window will pop up that says, “Choose the program you want to use to open this file.”

Your recipient should select Internet Explorer, and then click OK.

Voila! Your friend will have access to all your favorites.

Well, you see, the internet is like a big series of tubes, and if you have one of those tubes going from your new laptop to your old laptop you can probably access that information. If not, you may be able to ask your ISP to install a new tube for you.

Yes. Your browser (i.e. google chrome) stores the history. NOT your ISP. You will still be able to view history from the old company as well.

I would also recommend writing down the names of the websites that you need.

If you look up at the top left hand corner on your screen you will see the word history, (on firefox). Left click and enjoy
