Wireless Internet Problems After Sp2 & IE7 Install?

I recently installed the sp2 update (IE 7 also) on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. The wireless internet was working fine after the updates installed. After I started the computer the next morning, IE 7 says that i'm having connectivity problems, and has some cheesy test it runs that says call for your admin support. Here's the deal, when I check the wireless connectivity, i have excellent signal strength. I have tried numerous reboots, and have even run the system restore to 3 different restore points, including one restor point from a month BEFORE the sp2 and IE 7 install. Same scenario... I still have SP2 and IE 7, excellent connectivity, and IE 7 says it can't connect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have already tried the troubleshooting options, and Internet connection settings...

I would uninstall IE7.

installing Internet Explorer 7

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 and restore Internet Explorer 6 when using Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2. Click Add or Remove Programs.

3. You might have to CHECK the box that says SHOW UPDATES

4. Scroll down to Windows Internet Explorer 7, click it, and then click Change/Remove.

If you cannot find Internet Explorer 7 in Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Run, type

%windir%\ie7 \spuninst\spuninst.exe

(I added a space after ie7 so you could see the whole line.)

and then press ENTER.

If you have further trouble, you might try the RESTORE thing in the System Tools folder and go back a few days before you made this terrible mistake.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

The real truth at this point is go back to IE 6. I don't think all the bugs are out of IE7 as of yet. I spitched back asnd now everything is fine. I'll now let it alone.

have you tried resetting the power on the modem and router?

and then type ipconfig /renew at the command prompt?

does your laptop have an onboard wireless NIC? some have an on/off switch near the back corner, I have bumped mine in transport and when i turned it on, i had no wireless took me a bit to figure out i bumped the switch

a second option; try uninstalling the device in device manager and reinstalling it upon restart...

are you using wep or wpa encryption? make sure you got the key correct

check your IP from a command prompt to see if you're getting a valid IP from your router if you have one, ipconfig from 2000/XP, winipcfg from Win95/98. A valid one you get from your router will be 192.168.x.x. If you get a 169.x.x.x then you have a connection problem since these are Windows assigned addresses. Try a different browser like Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

This may give you a clue.
