Question:
opening tabs in mozilla firefox - version 3.0.10?
2009-05-02 08:18:22 UTC
I have installed mozilla firefox - version 3.0.10 on top of internet explorer 7. With mozilla firefox, I can not open tabs by clicking on the right side of the existing tab. (Actually there is no button to open new tab, but we can click anywhere on the bar on right side of existing tab) Sometimes when I click on the link then a separate tab opens up. After that second tab opens up, I can click on the right side of that second tab and I can open third tab. But I can not do that when there is only one tab.

Why is it so ? How can I open different tabs, when only one tab is opened up ?

thanks

File + New tab.

Or, what I do, right click on the toolbar (the space above the address bar) and then choose "customize." Then you can drag and drop any button to the toolbar, including a new tab button. Then all you have to do is click that button to open a new tab, even if there is only one tab open.

Don't go to File>>New tab. That's the long way.

I don't think you can click to the right of the existing tab in Mozilla though to open a new tab.

If you want to see the tab bar when you have one tab open here's what to do.

Tools>>Options>>Tabs>>Always Show Tab Bar

Now to open a new tab the fast way is you put the "new tab" icon in your toolbar.

If you don't already have that icon there here's how you put it there.

View>>Toolbars>>Customise

Locate the "new tab" icon and then drag it to your toolbar. (your toolbar is directly above where open tabs are).

Then click done.

Hope this helped.

Coincidentally, it doesn't use as much memory as opening a whole new window each time, but the tabs -do- add up. Your computer will slow down eventually. To fix this, take your tower to a computer shop and say you'd like to upgrade your RAM, don't act stupid, and it'll cost you no more than $30 to have 2-3 times more memory, allowing you many many tabs, windows, programs, and faster loading times. I can open about 40 tabs in Firefox without hassle, and that's while listening to music, studying eBooks, chatting on msn and downloading movies...you didn't hear that last one! Good luck.
