I have a Motorola surfboard modem, connected to a Linksys router with Cox high speed internet. There are multiple machines connected to the network at any given time. I personally use the internet mainly for school and playing League of Legends. However; sometimes my internet randomly disconnects while i am playing. I believe it is a hardware problem with my modem, as it usually shuts off the online, receive, and sometimes send lights when the internet disconnects. Recently it has become a more frequent happening and it is becoming more and more annoying. Please help.

So I take it you check the lights on the surfboard and the internet light isn't want its suppose to be. You can't go by the lights on the router once they lose the signal then those lights won't be right. If that's the case It can only be one of two things. One the modem is having problems and you should try a reset. If that does not help then you may have to replace the modem. You can't get it fixed not worth even trying. But be sure it's your modem and not your internet connection.I wish I had all the money that was spent on new modems and routers that were replacing ones that worked fine.

You might be getting a weak Signal to Noise ratio for your ISP to the modem. You can check the SNR by directly connecting your PC to the SB modem then configuring your IP to be 192.168.100.XXX then you can open ip IE,FF,Chrome to the address of 192.168.100.1 to see the current stats of your modem.

you need to shut off the modem for 5 minutes before & after doing this to reset the MAC address.
