Sudden Raise in Spam, Why?

Question

I had my Yahoo Account email (the free one) in India and used it over Dialup / DSL cybercafe's

When I started using the same email account in USA, over a DSL connection , the spam has increased like 4 fold.
My laptop is virus/spyware free.
why ? They go to bulk mail -okay , but I did not submit my email on any website. How did they find me to spam?
