If you don't want to use IE, you can remove the desktop icon of IE in windows. Also, you can make Chrome as the default browser so that your PC doesn't load IE all the times.
But I would not advise you to uninstall IE totally. You cannot remove IE from Control Panel>Add/Remove Program directly. If you want to uninstall it, you will have to "Add/Remove Windows Components". And uninstalling IE will also uninstall other programs like calculator and games!!! Check it yourself.

No, it's a terrible idea, IE is intertwined into your operating system. Neither IE nor Chrome take up any space at all. You could add 10 more browsers if you want. Also, if you remove IE your Windows will no longer update.

It's not recommendable to un-install it. There are some programs that only works with IE. I always use Chrome, but I have IE as my default browser, so if I have to go to Windows Update I'll go with IE.

I was using Chrome before but then I started getting a lot of crashes so I uninstalled it and haven't used it since.

First find where to download Google Chrome, download it and then un-install IE and there you have it!
