I have a website with some images -- in the beginning it loaded ok. Lately it suffers slow downloading.
I have high speed broadband access, and when I download other sites with images, the speed is ok. When it comes to my website, somehow it is not that fast. I did store the image file in the same directory as the homepage. Can anyone help?

To decrease the file size (bytes) and increase load time, you should optimize all images. I can tell you in photoshop (and maybe other programs?) instead of just saving, choose "save for web". You can open the image you have now and then choose "save for web." Be sure to save photos as a .jpg and illustrations and cartoons as .gif. In photoshop it will tell you the byte size and you can mess around with settings until you have an image that is as small as possible while still looking as good as possible. But if you have done this already, keep looking for other possibilities.

I'm suspicious that initially you may have been pulling the images out of the cache on your own system instead of off the site (if you were doing some testing, etc.) Re-sizing the images or changing the resolution may decrease the size of your images to make the site download faster.

Ok, when your site takes too long, it's probably that you need to buy more space (meaning paying more monthly than you are now). Usually that's the reason why websites go slow. If you have like 2g of space and you use 1.8g, your site will probably not go as fast as if you used less space.

If you don't want to have to pay more every month, when you save your images, save them as something that won't take up as much space like a jpg or something. Hope this helped.

An internet connection can become slow or stop working due to a number of reasons depending on the type of the connection. Many of the problems can be solved by making software changes or small hardware corrections. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yl62gz

Also make sure all image files are small in byte size. You may have uploaded some images without making them web friendly.

Sometimes it depends on the design of the website if it has too many effects on it it will surely affect the loading of the website... the less or simple design websites normally loads fast. Try removing spyware and adware on your pc or empty the temporarry files on your pc windows\tem\...

Did you recently add a new script? Check to see that all your scripts are in the right place and that anything that takes awhile to load is last on your HTML document so visitor's at least see your content.
