Firefox won't properly import my bookmarks, how can i fix it?

I recently upgraded my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7, and i have an HTML bookmarks file from Firefox that i exported before the upgrade. After installing Firefox, i tried to import my bookmarks from this file. I mistakenly thought that nothing happened after seeing no notification and not finding my bookmarks under the bookmarks toolbar(where i keep all of them), so i tried importing it a couple more times.

I fear this may have screwed something up, as i now seem to have multiple bookmark toolbars under the "bookmark" button in the upper right corner on the browser. The first two buttons(View Bookmarks Toolbar and Show All Bookmarks) show me nothing, as it was when i first installed it. The problem occurs just below the "Get Bookmark Add-ons" button. Here's what is shown:

Get Bookmark Add-ons
Mozilla Firefox
Recently Bookmarked
Recent Tags
Get Bookmark Add-ons
Mozilla Firefox
Bookmarks Toolbar
Unsorted Bookmarks
Bookmarks Toolbar
Unsorted Bookmarks
Recently Bookmarked
Recent Tags

It then repeats all of the above lines, exactly to the letter, 4 times. Selecting any of the bookmarks toolbar options from the above list shows all of my bookmarks from the HTML file, but the toolbar and "View all bookmarks" selections at the very top remain blank(unless i bookmark a new page).

I realize this is probably my fault, but my question is how i can i remove the multiple copies of the toolbar/unsorted bookmarks/etc., if possible?? Also, how can i import my HTML file bookmarks into the very first toolbar, instead of creating a separate one each time?

Thanks for any assistance.

I see that you imported your bookmarks several times. Firefox don't overwrite on existing bookmarks, so now you have multiple copies. There's a great add-on that can fix duplicate bookmarks and mark up those that can be deleted. Here:

http://www.xmarks.com/

When installed, go to your Xmarks account online and run the Duplicate Bookmarks finder. That will fix everything.

That's not the only feature that xmarks offer in case you want to know. It synchronizes your bookmarks on all computers you log on to.

In FireFox go to "Bookmarks" then "arrange bookmarks" at the top of the window that pops up click on "again up and restore". Prefer back up it must save it as a JSON file. To restore simply do the primary three steps besides choose fix. Choose select file and navigate to where the backup file was once saved excellent success
