Question:
Should I be able to still use IE 8 over IE 9, safety-wise?

I asked a version of this already, but let me be a little clearer.

I have Windows Vista and I'm not interested whatsoever in FireFox, or Google anything, etc. over IE. Now, I just downloaded IE 9 a few days ago, can't stand it and am wondering if I could go back to IE 8 safely? I saw how to do it on the Windows website already. But I just want to know, it says IE 9 is safer and whatnot (I realize that yes, it IS newer)- but how how true is this?

Is IE 8 still safe for me to use, even though it says IE 9 is safer? Am I going to be missing out on safety updates of any kind for any program or will I still be getting them though I'll be reverting back to IE 8? If you could answer in detail, please!

Thanks to all!

Well, you should still use Google Chrome. WAY better than Internet Explorer!

But if you must still use it, just delete IE9 and download IE8 again. It will download right if you download it off a secure site. IE9 is still just a test run so I wouldn't use it just yet.

Technically, IE is still the most UNSAFEST browser out there...For example this wekeend there was a new security alert on IE. Seems to be weekly despite the newest version.

If you want to stay with IE then i recommend you keep doing Windows Updates each week to get the latest security pack for IE, if Microsoft bothers to release a fix.

yes you can go back to IE 8 fine, seeing as how IE9 is just as vulnerable.

I stopped using IE because of the constant headaches as a conduit for spyware on my machine. Now i never get spyware..ever.

You can safely use IE8 and you will continue to get security updates for IE8 (I still get security updates for IE7).

After reverting back to IE8, IE9 will continue to show up in Windows Update, Just right click on the IE9 update and select "hide update". You won't be bothered with it again.

click the computing device icon. interior the right toolbar click "uninstall or replace a application". while that window plenty pick "view put in updates" on the right left. look by way of that record for residing house windows internet Explorer 9. Uninstall it from there. After which you will straight away have IE8 back - you will no longer ought to reinstall it.
