Question:
I really need to delete my browsing history?
2009-01-09 17:28:07 UTC
Ok so i've been on youtube watching rather questionable videos and also in google images with rather questionable pictures (never clicking on any of them)

I don't really want anyone to find out, and so I went (on internet opt.) and deleted my browsing history and temporary internet files. Will this securily stop anyone from seeing what I have been doing

(I really wish I hadn't and won't do so again :) )

Any advise or help please?

If you really want to look at that stuff (understandable. you will again trust me) then use a private browser.

This browser is specially design to not record any history or leave any trace of what you have been looking at.

As far as clearing internet explorer, just make sure you clear your browsing history and cookies.

I have a myspace when I'm not supposed to so I have to delete my browsing history everytime after I get off myspace. If you look at the top right of your screen u will see file edit etc click on tools then internet options I delete the cookies then delete files and check the box that says delete all offline content and clear the history there. My parents still haven't found out that I have a myspace so it works.

Look up the top of your internet page, if you use Firefox, there should be a thing saying Tools. Click that, then click on 'Clear Private Data', make sure all the boxes are ticked then click 'Clear private data now' and it will be gone. Nobody will be able to see it.

If you use Internet Explorer, there is a thing saying 'Tools', click that, then click 'Delete browsing history',(which seems to be what you did, but make sure you delete the cookies also) -> then click delete history and delete cookies. Then nobody will ever be able to see what you were looking at because all the data is gone.

for the casual user no. For someone that has minimal skills and knows how to dig. You have already tipped your hand with the deletion You deleted a chunk of sites instead of only yours. You can go to cookies and delete that as well as temp files and delete there. Still there are many sites out there that can resurrect old cookies. you could download CCleaner for secure 35 times overwrite file deletion. As well as sweepi to overwrite the free space that may have some of your footprints. Don't be looking at porn until your old enuf. even then it will just be an empty piece of paper. Learn to love as God would have you to love.

Good idea to raise that problem here. So now everyone who reads yahoo answers knows what you have been up to. I have asked the FBI to investigate.

Just kidding!

But in response to all of those who think that deleting your browser history will wipe everything away, you should all know that computers don't really delete anything; they just allow it to be overwritten later. So it is still possible to view all deleted files if you know how to do it. Google Desktop, for example, will pull up images you have viewed in your browser even if you have deleted your history.

Delete all your cookies history :D.

and make sure your cache is cleared. if your browser has a reset button, that will get rid of it off your computer..

however, if you were using it on someone else's internet, you they might be able to find out as they could get mailed a history of some sort :D

good luck!

whilst on the internet press ctrl + h, and ur browsing history comes up then press delete and voila (it should delete - or it may ask "are you sure u want to delete... yes/no) (ctrl+ a, doesnt work so u cant select all, therefore u'll need to delete each one seperately. or a faster way is to run disk cleanup - and "delete temp internet files" which gets rid of everything

The only way to delete your browsing history would be to look at really hardcore porn....immediately

yes no one can see what youve been on and you can also change your settings on internet options so that you can delete your browsing history [because if you dont adjust it it normaly wont let you delete it until 20 days after you last deleted it ] x

yeah itll delete it,

you can only go back into threw the actuall hard drive (but i highly soubt anyone would take apart their computer and go threw every web site),

make sure you delete all of it, dont leave a single web site on your history or els when someone is typing in a website, it might pop up,

also on youtube, if your logged in "recommended videos for you" will come up, so make sure you log out of youtube befor getting off the computer.

ha. goodluck.

Go to Start, search, all files and folders ,, type in 'cookies'

anything thats left on your computer should come up there, if theres anything delete them, also make sure the auto complete on your browser is deleted.

this depends on your browser

but most likely no one will find anything, although it is 100% impossible to hide what you do on the computer no matter what you do (although the CIA might not have the technology to access some stuff)

i will suggest a browser: google chrome

i suggest it cause it has a mode that you can use (to watch your questionable vids) that doesn't save ANY info (although i said before there is NO way to hide it completely)

100% your parents (or whoever you are hiding it for) don't work for the CIA lol

it depends on what computer u have.

if u have a pc than on the Internet there should be like a favorites and there should be a history section and then u can see weather or not u deleted it.

if u have a mac computer than just go on the internet and click history on the top and clear all.

hope that helped :]

Make sure you delete the cookies as well. But yes, if all of that is deleted, no one will find out where you've been and what you've been doing.

It should get rid of anything. Just be sure to close the browser that you were viewing them in as well to reset it.
