Hi!
I want to format my existing 98. But thats no prob. I am having a CD. But the main prob is this.:
Currently my monitor supports 24 (high) bit color. But After formatting the OS with 98 the 24 bit option is removed & only the 640 x resolution is available. No other resolution is available. And the colors are not properly displayed.
I thought i need to install a driver. For installing i went to windrivers.com. But we have to register by paying with windrivers. So i dropped out that idea.
I formatted another HDD throught my system.
Now i want to format my own HDD. But now if i format it the same color problem will appear.

Can anyone tell me a way avoid that color problem & resolution problem (after formatting)?

Although your monitor supports 24 bit colour, it's your graphics card and drivers that enable your monitor to display at higher resolutions and colour depth.

After formatting your HDD, you'll need to reinstall the card's drivers. If you haven't got the original drivers that came on the CD, check the make and model of your card and visit the support section of the manufacturers website. They usually offer up to date drivers, which is always a better option anyway.

This problem is directly related with your Graphic card. "OS with 98 the 24 bit option is removed & only the 640 x resolution is available" This clearly indicate about your graphic card driver problem.

You must need driver of your vga(graphic card) . you can free download from www.driversguide.com

or you can also download Best and uptodate Driver from your graphic card manufacturer website.

After formatting, you will need to reinstall all your device drivers as well as the operating system. To solve the colour/resolution problem, you will need to reinstall the drivers for your graphics card. These should be on the disc that came with your graphics card.

You need to install the VGA DRIVER. You should have specified what Video Card you are using so i could help you download a VGA driver for you.
