I'd try a standard Ethernet cable; most new computers can handle the auto-cross-over internally nowadays. (This would eliminate any possible wiring boo-boos.)

As mentioned by someone else, you may have a firewall blocking the pings.

Do you have both machines set to the same gateway and subnet mask?

request timed out which potential your device did no longer get carry of comments/answer from the receiver. it may desire to be that the different device u have been attempting to ping wasn't setup wisely (e.g. gateway IP ought to same, no longer became on, etc.) based on your tale, i'm distinctly specific the subject is along with your different desktops (those you r attempting to ping to), no longer the only you're pinging from. I stated that for the reason which you may ping gateway and skim the cyber web. so as that teach you have a great connection.

Turn off your firewall software on each PC or adjust it to trust computers on your local network so they can hear each other.
