Should I get a domain name for free as soon as possible and then transfer to a different host provider?

I came up with a band name and I've already opened a myspace account just to show prior usage in case it is needed but would it be a good idea to buy a domain name for free with "One web hosting" and later when I start using it transfer to a different host provider?
The best way to keep the name would be to trademark it but I don't have money for that.
Please help.

If the domain name you want is available just register it. You don't have to buy web hosting, just register a domain name with Namecheap or Godaddy for $10/year.

there are free webhosting sites with limits on usage. domains with free of cost but it's subdomain, like www.yourbrandname."webhostname".com. Later u can transfer to your own domain after u purchase.
try co.cc sites , solidwebhost(blackapple host) or 000.webhost.com

if you will trademark your band name, and not register domain name.
someone might register that domain name, and that domain name will be in his possession and you will not be able to do anything unless he will decide to sell it
