How do I speed up my Internet download speed? And why is it so slow?

that is my Download Speed.... 1.47 MB/s.
If I download something in uTorrent it is VERY slow. The slowest came up to be 10kb/s.
How can I speed up my Internet speed.

Internet speed or torrent speed? I think you really are talking torrent speed.

If you have several torrents going and some are fast and some are slow it is not YOUR internet speed. It is other factors which you have no control over.



Not enough seeds, other torrent users have capped their upload speed (a lot do), ISP throttling, are some of the things that can slow you down.



Be patient and leave your torrent client run. More or faster seeds will come online and your speed will improve. I have had to wait over 2 weeks for a small torrent to finish. Not because of slow speed (it was slow) but I had to wait for a seeder that had the last few file pieces to download.

If you have a wireless network you should make sure it's secure. If you have an antivirus program installed that scans downloads in realtime it can create a bottleneck. End any unecessary processes that are consuming your bandwidth. Pausing some of the torrents you're downloading and lowering your upload speed may help.



I've never had to forward any ports in order to optimize uTorrent's performance - using several different computers and routers.



p.s. "download firefox" = noob response... especially since he's complaining about poor download speed in uTorrent.

Well, you can try using Download Accelerator Plus. It actually helps a little. You have to download it, but it's 100% safe. You can also call your local internet provider, and ask them why. You might have Light internet or something. Then you have to upgrade. Maybe it's because someone else is jacking ur internet connection. There are a lot of things that could be the problem. Try each of the options I listed.

Yea. You should get firefox.

My internet explorer was soo slow even with verizon dsl.

But I downloaded firefox (it's free and comes with the amazing google toolbar) and it's soo much faster.

Ugh, I 'll never use internet explorer ever again.

If you're downloading torrents, you need to port forward first. Google it.

delete ur some favorites ......
