I looked on the advanced tab. There is nothing wrong with the browser, my computer at work is the same. Is it named something else, ya think? I see a box for re-use window to open shortcuts. If I uncheck that, will it then let me open links in new window?

To change how pop-ups are displayed

In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.

Click the General tab, and then, in the Tabs section, click Settings.

Make a selection in the When a pop-up is encountered section.

Click OK twice

It's in the webmaster's website design/html code that forces pages to open on top or new window.

Firefox has lots of extensions to force new pages to on in new window/tab/self.

IE 6 does not. IE 7 i'm not sure.

check first if you downloaded the latest version, IE 7 if i'm not mistaken. the tabs are visible on your toolbar, just click 'em. or right click option and choose open in new tab.

there is no check box to open links in new window, but you can right click on a link and select to open it in a new window. also you can hold Ctrl (or was it Shift???) and it will open in new window.
