Hi, i have an old Fujitsu Lifebook that is running windows 2000 (with IE 6).Anyway, i cant connect it to the internet, i have tried connecting it with a wirless card, and also with an ethernet cable to my router. It is showing that they are both connecting, and saying the connection speed. But, when i go to internet explorer it says ' cannot connect to internet, work offline ect', i know it has got to be something easy, but i can figure it out. Thanks alot people !!

First see if you are getting an IP address.Goto Start - Run and type 'cmd" in the run box , Type ipconfig and see if you get a address. If you do then, try to ping a site. type " ping www.yahoo.com" see if you get a reply. If you do, then it's IE and maybe the proxy setting are on.

Your ISP might be using proxy settings. Contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance. Connectivity icon simply shows the connectivity between your laptop and the router you are using.
