Which version of Internet Explorer are you using?
In any case it may help for you to click on "View" (Up near top left corner) and under "Toolbars" un-check anything that isn't "Menu Bar", "Command Bar", and "Status Bar".
If you can't see "View" anywhere on your screen, your "Menu Bar" may not be visible. To remedy this, right click anywhere on your "Command Bar" (except the tab of the page you're on) and click on "Menu Bar".
If you don't want the "Menu Bar" visible, just right click on the "Command Bar" and make sure everything is unchecked except "Command Bar" and "Status Bar".
In case you don't know what any of those "Bar" things are:
1. "Menu Bar" is the bar near the top of Internet Explorer that reads "File Edit View.....".
2. "Command Bar" is the bar near top that has your current tab as well as different buttons on the right such as the "Home" button and "Tools" menu.
3. "Status Bar" is the bar at the bottom of Internet Explorer that tells you information about links and what's currently happening in your Internet Explorer as well as giving you the option to choose zoom level.
Also, there may be an unwanted Add-On causing the problem. To fix this just click "Tools" on either the "Command Bar" or "Menu Bar" and then click "Manage Add-ons". I would click on and disable anything that isn't any of the following:
Shockwave Flash Object
Adobe PDF Link Helper
NameCtrl Class
Research
Java(tm) Plug-In SSV Helper
