I followed installation procedure for this unit but I can't log-in to SBC DSL internet however there was a dial tone. I contacted many agents for SBC DSL center but the reply were not clear enough to solve the problem, some said they dont have experience to deal with wireless phone / modem jack system like mine.

Using a wireless phone jack won't work. The reason is that DSL relies on the phone line being able to carry frequencies that are not used by the phone system for voice transmission. However, wireless phone jacks are not designed to carry these frequencies. The reason that a wireless phone jack works with non-DSL modems is that those modems actually convert digital data into sounds that are within the frequency range used for voice.

You have basically two options if you want DSL in another room:

--install a hard-wired (not wireless) phone jack in that room. this is simplest, but will cost something for the installation unless you do it yourself.

--in the room that currently has your phone jack and DSL modem, set up a wireless (Wi-Fi) router. You'll have to add a wireless/Wi-Fi adapter to your desktop computer as well. Any local computer store as well as the SBC DSL folks should be familiar with this type of setup.

You should be able to plug your modem into any of your phone jacks. Move the filter from the jack you want to use to the one the modem is in now and plug the modem into the jack you want to use. Then just use a Cat5 cable to connect your pc to the router. Bert
