every time i start firefox i get this message in a pop-up like box it seems like a error message, also i get it whenever i close firefox

xml.freecause.com:443 uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is not trusted.
The certificate is only valid for gateway.2wire.net

(Error code: sec_error_untrusted_issuer)

anyone know what that crap means and how to make it go away?

try uninstalling mozilla firefox then installing it again, then restart your computer.

Ginger is right. However, unless you *know* that the site is safe, do *not* make an exception in Firefox. Firefox is trying to protect you from unsafe sites, or sites which may have been spoofed.

I looked up the freecause site and McAfee at least thinks it is safe. However, not knowing how you got there, it's possible you might not really be going to the "real" freecause site, so unless you're sure you are, just disable whatever bookmark or add on that is taking you there.

Are you using freecause.com as your home page? Change your home page to something else.

What it means is that this web site doesn't have a valid certificate for SSL (secure networking) so they could be a bad buy trying to hack your computer. Firefox should give you the option of making a permanent exception for this site which will eliminate further error messages.

Looks like this is an add-on in your browser.

To disable this add-on open your browser, go to Tools - Add Ons and search for one that says Gateway or Free Cause and uninstall it.

I am not sure of the exact name of the add on is causing this so you will have to search.

You can also take this time to get rid of add ons that are unnecessary and can slow down your browsing experience.
