Most likely you have a version of MySQL that does not support Joomla 2.5.1 (I think you had a very old version of Joomla installed before).

There are some GoDaddy servers affected by this, we have written about the PHP aspect of this problem here: http://www.itoctopus.com/how-to-install-joomla-on-godaddy#why-joomla-2.5.1-will-not-work-on-godaddy (the MySQL is more or less the same)

The error isn't showing a problem connecting as such, so a few guesses:

- Check you have a supported MySQL version - http://www.joomla.org/technical-requirements.html - If you're using v4, upgrade or ask your provider for MySQL v5.

- Ensuring you're using a different MySQL connection collation of UTF-8 or utf8_unicode_ci
