I switched most of my domains to GoDaddy bc/ they are so cheap, but I am now at the point I just want nothing to do with them. Network Solutions isnt an option bc/ they charge way too much... who else is there?

TONS

I have used BlueHost, HostGator, JustHost, WebSiteSource, MidPhase, ANHosting, 1&1 Hosting, Media Temple, and GoDaddy.

End in end, I will honestly say for shared hosting, 1&1 has been most satisfactory. They also have special prices for domains a lot of the time. usually $6.99. That's cheaper than GoDaddy BTW! 1&1 is good except they out source support from a foreign country thus resulting in cruddy support due to comprehension but it is fast and always gets resolved int he end. They aren't very good for e-Commerce Carts either because they host their MySQL databases at a separate location and behind a special firewall. If you're not selling things then it should work wonderfully.

MidPhase and ANHosting sucked for support and quality. HostGator was some what difficult. BlueHost was decent and GoDaddy is pretty expensive for its quality. They had their run and now they don't care much at all. WebSiteSource treats customers like dirt and Media Temple is like GoDaddy. Started off excellent for business solutions but they lost interest because they're rich and they don't expand though they have overflowing users.

I recommend 1&1 for non-commerce sites and domains. I recommend BlueHost for non-commerce hosting but not domains. I haven't used BlueHost for a commerce site yet so I don't know how they perform in that situation.

Edit:

Hosted by 1&1 right now

well, seriously you have made a good choice.

godaddy isnt' really good domain registrar and I never use it.

people will go crazy about easy and expensive one.

but I have been using these two for over 8 years.. and haven't got any problem

http://gkg.net

http://namecheap.com

they are pretty cheap and their domain administration is pretty easy.

for me, I love them and they are the next ones I use after I started using InterNIC in 97. coz network solution is extremely expensive.

another godaddy problem is their new look and new upgrade// as usual, their asp/iis server is crazy slow and sometimes it just doesn't work out anymore.

I am seeing many people are already switching as well. so good choice and good luck with new domain names..

the name transfers to these sites are very easy too. because I have done it several times and register several times... as part of my job is registering domain names to the clients

hope this helps

We use A plus at my business because we like their DNS service. I have clients that use 1&1.com and really like it because they find it easy to use and inexpensive.

That's my recommendation...
