I sold someone something and they paid me by sending money to my paypal. Beside their transaction in my "History" it says "completed". BUT I put in to transfer to my bank account & it says "transfer to bank account........pending" Can they get their money back this far along in the transaction? Does this mean their check cleared? Is it safe to ship when it says this? Says COMPLETE from them to me and from me to my bank it says PENDING

The "Completed" status next to the transfer to your account is saying that your account successfully received the money.

When you transfer the money to a bank, first the money is deducted from your bank account. Then the money is attempted to be wired over to your bank, which will then post your money after a set amount of time. This shows up in your status as " 'Pending' or 'Processing' " and is just saying that PayPal is int the process of transferring your money.

But no worries! Your money is definitely there; if the bank transfer fails, the money will be deposited back into the PayPal account, but you cannot cancel a transfer after it's begun.

Yes, it is safe to ship. You will see the money posted in about 3 days to your bank account, but for the sake of good feedback and being a good seller, I'd ship their item now.

that means they buyer has used their existing paypal balance to pay you, which has cleared, and that pending is the 3-5 business days you have to wait for the money to get to your bank account.

And yes, if they have a legitimate reason to dispute your transaction, such as you ship him a rock or something like that, paypal will investigate and if found to be in favor of the buyer, they will withdraw that money from your checking account and return it to the buyer, ofcourse, if the buyer actually file a dispute, you will have your chance to explain your side of the story before they make the decision.

hmm. It may be pending transfer into your account. If it says complete, it should mean they have paid and it has cleared, but I am not 100 percent sure. I have never really looked at that!

there is probly a certain amount of time they are given to charge back, but most "illegitimate" chargebacks never go through unless the person has actual proof he was scammed.

if you are selling something through ebay and are using paypal you can rest assured you won't get scammed. (i just assumed you might be using ebay)

um i think they hold the money until all parties are happy with the deal and what not so im pretty sure its ok to ship as long as you have received payment they will then confirm they got it and you should get your money if not have a word with them.
